About Us
The mission of the Detroit Lakes Middle School is to provide a safe environment that challenges and nurtures all learners to achieve their full potential.
Our middle school has an enrollment of approximately 615 students in grades 6-8. We have two interdisciplinary teams at each grade level and have eight instructional periods per day. Sixth grade students are required to take math, language arts, reading, science, social studies and physical education. Seventh and eighth grade students are required to take math, language arts, science and social studies. Art, family and consumer science, and industrial technology are required for all students in seventh and eighth grade. All students have physical education every day. Students can choose to be in band and choir. The middle school is on a trimester grading period.
While there are many rules in any school environment, Detroit Lakes Middle School relies on these three Middle School Expectations.
ATTEND – Be at school every day possible. Nothing takes the place of showing up on time.
ACHIEVE – Do your best. Always give your best effort.
BEHAVE – Be a good citizen. Treat others and property with respect and courtesy.
We want all of our students to have a great experience at Detroit Lakes Middle School and work hard to that end. We encourage parent participation, involvement and feedback. Please contact us via email, phone or in person. We also encourage potential students to contact us to set up a visit and tour our facility.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Suckert
Principal, Detroit Lakes Middle School
